Lucky 7 Track Meet Today at Commerce

Commerce TSA Chapters attended the OK TSA State Leadership Conference in Norman April 19-21. We had 7 middle school members attend and 13 high school members. Mixed in among their competitive events were leadership sessions and community service events. During opening session Zach Romine and Kyl Frantz participated in the Smash Bros eSports tournament during ACS Fun Night making it to the semi finals. During opening session Jackie Medina was awarded the OK TSA Presidential Degree. Earning the Senatorial Degree were Sophia Highley, Lexi Martin, and Jonathan. Stebbins. Commerce had many members make the semifinals in their competitions. This morning at closing sessions and awards the following students placed in the top three in the state.

The 2023 National TSA Conference is June 28- July 2 in Louisville, KY.

Commerce High School Co-Valedictorian for 2023
Thalia Serna
Miss Serna is the daughter of Amparo Balboa and the Granddaughter of Sofia Balboa.
Thalia is the President of the Spanish Club. She is involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Gifted and Talented, Science Club. She has played Soccer for 4 years at CHS.
Thalia is in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at NEO and has been accepted into the NEO Nursing Program.
She plans to start nursing school at NEO in the fall.

Commerce High School Co-Valedictorian for 2023
Maudie Millhollin
Maudie’s parents are Josh & Tiffany Millhollin. Her grandparents are Derald & Lou Boman and Calvin and the late Jannis Millhollin.
Maudie has been active in the following clubs and organizations: National Honor Society, Student Council, Student Body Government, Science Club, Spanish Club, Native American Club, FCA, Basketball 4 years and Soccer 2 years.
Honors and Awards Maudie has received is as follows: Co-Valedictorian for the class of 2023, President of all her high school classes, President of the National Honor Society, She has been awarded the Girl Student of the Year for her freshman, sophomore and junior classes. Maudie was the Co-Captain of the basketball team her senior year and was awarded the “Tiger Eye” award for girls’ soccer.
In the future Maudie will attend NEO A&M College to get her basics and then transfer to Rogers State University to achieve her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Church is something that means so much to Maudie. Being born and raised within the church has been the best blessing she could ever have.

Alexis Riggs-Austin
Alexis’s parents are Angel Riggs-Austin & Skyler Austin. Her grandparents are Darryl & Kristi Riggs.
Alexis has been active in Band, Choir, NHS, Native American Club, Guitar Club & on the Academic Team. She is the Commerce Pride Drum Major this year and was awarded the Pride Award, the Choral Award and the Singer’s Award in Band.
She plans to attend NEO A&M College for 2 years and then transfer to OSU.

Today Commerce instrumentalists had great success at the State Competition in Stillwater. This success includes Bailey Arnold, Alexis Riggs-Austin, Sophie Olds, Sheridan Bailey, Emilia Prado, and Mykahl Dunn getting a score of 1 "Superior" . Onyx McCarthy and Maggie Roher received a score of 2 "Excellent".

Commerce Schools will host our first track meet in nearly a decade tomorrow, April 19th. We are excited to host the Middle School Tiger Classic. If you would like to follow meet results live you can do so here -

Due to state competitions, Tiger Classic track meet, and baseball games, we need to cancel Club Comet on Thursday, 4/20, because of staff needed at other events. Please make arrangements for your students after school. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Commerce Public Schools will host a Johnson-O’Malley, Title VI Indian Education Parent Committee Meeting on April 21, 2023 at the Commerce Superintendent's Office at 2:00 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

CHS Boys and Girls track will be leaving the CHS gym at 7:00 am tomorrow for the Porter track meet.
