SFTS

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Thursday, February 16th, 2023 we will host an anti-bullying assembly for our 5th-12th grade students at the Commerce High School gymnasium.  You can find more information about our presenters at their website - https://standforthesilent.org/

The assembly has been presented at over 5,000 schools nationwide and the feedback we have received from schools at which they have presented has been extremely positive.  The topics are real life bullying situations and the stories may be bothersome to some students.  We will have separate rooms available where students can exit and talk to a counselor if the assembly becomes too heavy for them at any point.

It is against Oklahoma State Law and Commerce Public School Policy to participate in bullying activity.  “Bullying” means any pattern of harassment, intimidation, threatening behavior, physical acts, verbal or electronic communication directed toward a student or group of students that results in or is reasonably perceived as being done with the intent to cause negative educational or physical results for the targeted individual or group and is communicated in such a way as to disrupt or interfere with the school’s educational mission or the education of any student.

We sincerely hope that all students will participate and learn the dangers of bullying from these great speakers.  If, for any reason, you would like your child to opt-out of the assembly please contact your school’s office and let them know.

Sincerely,

Stephen M. Moss
Superintendent
