As part of their career education, students in Mrs. Stebbins' Technology & Engineering Education classes listened to a guest speaker yesterday.
Mr. Stebbins discussed careers and opportunities in the safety field, as well as the education and training required for those careers. In addition to the safety opportunities available, Chris also talked about the engineering opportunities in his company.
Mr. Stebbins is a Board Certified Safety Professional and has worked in the explosives industry for 16 years. Chris works for Orica, the world's leading mining and infrastructure solutions provider, specializing in the production and supply of explosives, blasting systems and geotechnical monitoring.


CHS Students: The FCCLA Annual Can & Box Food Drive is going on this week. FCCLA holds a food drive to help the Commerce Fire Department with their food baskets for the local families in need during Christmas. Students bring in canned or boxed food for bonus points. Each teacher can decide what the value of each can will be worth for their class. All donations are truly appreciated.

This Wednesday, December 6, 2023, will be our fourth Way 2 Go Wednesday. Students with 1 or fewer absences in the previous month and All A's and B's qualify for the OPTION of doing their work virtually on the first Wednesday of each month. Middle School Students who qualified for December will receive a note to take home to parents. High school students will receive an email from the office that they can show their parents for verification. If you have any questions, please call your school's office.

CPS Athletic Calendar


23 members of the Tiger Art Club went to Tulsa to experience the Van Gogh Immersive Experience, where they learned about Vincent Van Gogh in an animated surround of Van Gogh's art. They then went to the Mother Road Market for lunch.

Weekly Schedule of Events


The CHS academic team competed in regionals on Nov. 11. They had a strong showing and qualified for the area competition. The top four teams at regionals qualify for area competition. There were nine teams present. The teams competing were from Adair, Salina, Quapaw, Pawhuska, Oklahoma Union, Caney Valley, Commerce, Wyandotte, and Afton. The top four teams were 1st-Caney Valley, 2nd-Adair, 3rd-Oklahoma Union, and 4th-Commerce. Commerce had a very close battle with Oklahoma Union but came up short in the end. Mr McKibben is very proud of his team. The team includes the following: Noah Schmidt ( senior co-captain), Sheridan Bailey (senior co-captain), Abygail Jennings, Mykahl Dunn, Chrysanna Harter, Dominic Harter, Daniel Aguilera, Antonio Median, Kyl Frantz, Anja Barnstead, Elijah Lee, and Larisa Myrick (who acted as scorekeeper and timekeeper for competition rounds). The Area competition will be held on Jan. 13.
